We have had the longest, driest warm weather in many a year. I have pumpkins (not ripe mind you) in my mountain garden. But now that the wind has kicked up so have my allergies. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I miss the rain! I miss the fall mushroom picking. I miss having lots of greens popping up in the garden because it's chilly and rainy. I miss having craft time because all the vegetables have finished their season and are preserved. Enough of that. I do love sitting in my sunny kitchen in the morning as I enjoy coffee and birds running by. The wind is bringing down the loose limbs as well as the leaves. And the seasons will not be stopped, the leaves are finally turning to their fall colors.
I have tons of preserving on the list for today. One of our farmers at the restaurant just harvested the last of her tomatoes (500 lbs). I'll be making sauce out of 30lb today. I also have the last of the blackberries to make into jam and I pulled out sunchokes the other day. More on that to be a future post over on the Garden~Larder~Table blog.
I also have a lovely yarn cake awaiting my attention. I can't tell you too much about it yet. It is a new yarn that will be sold by Blue Moon Fiber Arts very soon. What I can tell you is that you are going to love it! This is one of my favorite fibers and I can't wait to dive into this test skein. As soon as Tina allows I'll give you my full yarny review.
Right now--it is Sunday morning and up here that means breakfast out. I have two men awaiting my attention and I hear their tummies growling.
